South Island tour

What a wonderful time Libby has had this week visiting various friends, trainers and stud farms in the South Island.

Hospitality second to none and an experience that should be undertaken by all.

Some gorgeous scenery, only overtaken by some incredible weanlings. The first crop of foals by War Decree are some of the best foals Libby has seen in years. Berkley Stud has a beautiful farm and some incredibly well grown and substantial weanlings.

Trackwork at Riccarton on Tuesday morning was a treat, with three Highden raised babies all galloping for owners Ricky and Anna Rhodes and trainer Lance Robinson. All performed really nicely at the trials yesterday.

Pear Tree Farm is a lovely spot and the two weanling Colts Anna and Michael have prepared for the current Gavelhouse Plus catalogue were presented in top order and paraded like true professionals. Both are very worthy of your attention in the sale.

To top the trip off nicely was a visit to White Robe Lodge where Wayne and Karen were wonderful tour guides around the vast property. Progeny of up and coming sires Ghibellines and Raise The Flag really caught the eye and I think both stallions are about to kick some big goals.

A big thank you to all who took the time to fetch, carry, host and entertain Libby. You should all be very proud of your properties, your stock and most of all, your generosity.

Already looking forward to the next trip!
